About Acme Safe Company

The company first planted its roots in 1900 when a young and enterprising immigrant from Russia took a job as a rigger for $4.00 per week. Sam Krasilovsky had saved enough money by 1904 to start a one-horse, one-wagon rigging business with his brother David in a downtown barn in Manhattan.

During the early years, the occasional safe or vault door would be included amongst the heavy machinery being moved and stored in the barn by David and Samuel Krasilovsky, Inc- the Original Master Riggers. The entrepreneurs quickly noticed that the used safes and vaults were being quickly sold due to the country's rapid growth and newly acquired wealth. Soon the machinery was moved out and only safes, new and used, were brought in to meet the growing demand for security. And thus, Acme Safe Company was born.

By the 1940's Acme Safe occupied most of a block on Grand St. and had become the largest and most well-known safe company in the New York area. Sam's eldest son, Nathan, joined the business after graduating from NYU and continued the family tradition of integrity in both sales and service. Acme Safe became the definitive source for helping individuals and industry protect their valuables. Consumers, professionals, designers, architects, contractors- all feel at home when they come to Acme for the answers to their security concerns.

Nathan's son-in-law, David Garbar has been running the business for many years and is Acme's General Manager. David looks forward to speaking with you about your personal or company's security needs. Whether by phone, e-mail or a personal visit to 419 Park Ave S, David can advise you best based on over 100 years of sales and service excellence.
